How This Course Series Works

This series consists of the following courses:

TFED21 – Triage Clinical Readiness – Unit I – 0.7 CNE
Abdomen, Back, and Extremity illnesses and injuries

Curriculum  Description & Purpose:
An opportunity exists for the further development of triage clinical expertise. This opportunity is related to a gap in triage education regarding high-risk presentations. All clinical readiness courses serve to assist the triage nurse in identifying high-risk presentations and do not seek to include basic nursing assessment skills or the identification of low-risk presentations.

The purpose of this activity is to:
1. List most differential diagnoses for abdominal, back, and extremity illnesses and injuries;
2. Identify high-risk presentations for this group.

Course Learner Outcomes:
Successful completion of this activity will enable the learner to recognize the high-risk presentations for abdominal, back, and extremity illnesses and injuries and apply their understanding of these presentations to appropriately assess acuity and improve the triage process.

TFED22 – Triage Clinical Readiness – Unit II – 0.9 CNE
Head, Neck, and Chest illnesses and injuries

Course Description & Purpose:
An opportunity exists for the further development of triage clinical expertise. This opportunity is related to a gap in triage education regarding high-risk presentations. All clinical readiness courses serve to assist the triage nurse in identifying high-risk presentations and do not seek to include basic nursing assessment skills or the identification of low-risk presentations.

The purpose of this activity is to:
1. List most differential diagnoses for head, neck, and chest illnesses and injuries; 
2. Identify high-risk presentations for this group.

 Course Learner Outcomes:
Successful completion of this activity will enable the learner to differentiate diagnostic categories of the psychiatric patient at triage and formulate appropriate, safe triage assessment and intervention strategies.

TFED23 – Triage Clinical Readiness – Unit III – 1.0 CNE
Environmental, Toxicological, Body Systems illnesses and injuries

Course Description & Purpose:
An opportunity exists for the further development of triage clinical expertise. This opportunity is related to a gap in triage education regarding high-risk presentations. All clinical readiness courses serve to assist the triage nurse in identifying high-risk presentations and do not seek to include basic nursing assessment skills or the identification of low-risk presentations.

The purpose of this activity is to:
1. List most differential diagnoses for environmental, toxicological, and body systems illnesses and injuries;
2. Identify high-risk presentations for this group.

Course Learner Outcomes:
Successful completion of this activity will enable the learner to recognize the high-risk presentations for environmental, toxicological, and body systems illnesses and injuries and apply their understanding of these presentations to appropriately assess acuity and improve the triage process.

 

To receive continuing nurse education contact hours certificate, the learner must complete all lessons and components of each course, complete the attestation and evaluation forms, and pass the exam with an 75% minimum pass rate.
